Surfline, the official forecaster of the event, has predicted solid head-high waves with the occasionally larger sets for the opening days of competition. However, halfway through the event a sizeable SW swell is predicted to easily provide “overhead surf at Popoyo with occasional sets hitting the double overhead mark” for the quarters, semis and finals.
