2018 Stance ISA World Adaptive Surfing Championships Forecast

Updated: Saturday evening, December 15th (Local Time)

Brief Overview: A reinforcing WNW swell peaks early Sunday while small, fading SSW swell generally passes by the region. Favorable conditions with morning offshore winds followed by light/light+ afternoon onshore winds.

SUNDAY 16th: Holding 4-5’ faces, strongest in the AM. Light offshore AM wind, light+ WNW wind in the PM.
SWELL: Fun short/mid period WNW swell holds through most of the day, slowly easing late.
WIND:  Light offshore wind through the morning trending light+ onshore from the WNW in the afternoon.

Swell/Surf Analysis

More favorably-angled WNW swell moves in Sunday courtesy to a lower-latitude and closer storm system that developed below the Gulf of Alaska recently. This new WNW swell has a lower swell interval which helps shape and also gets a bit more energy into Shores.

Winds and conditions continue to be favorable through the end of the weekend as high pressure dominates the southwestern US. That sets up weak offshore morning winds out of the ENE followed by light WNW- NW wind in the afternoon. The tide drops to a 2’ low at 11:06am, then builds back in to a 3.3’ high at 4:18pm.
